After Lee Millers 'The Prying Eyes of Sibiu', 1946.
Having seen Lee Millers work, I had decided to try to find the exact same spot where she had stood in 1946, while crossing Romania together with the Allied Forces. I had just started taking pictures and felt I needed to somehow close the gap between myself and the images others had seen or experienced before me. Ofcourse, I couldn't find the exact place, although I tried for almost a week. But the steps I retraced more then ten years ago, her steps, are still within me today, as a memory of a road once travelled.

Unquiet is a collection of photographs and thoughts that have preoccupied me during the past years, fading in and out of my conscious mind, without being somehow rezolved. Fortunately, as well as to my distress, the collection is growing as would a Borgesian library or labyrinth of aide-memoires. Having realized this the only possibility left is to archive these thoughts and images and accept that certain things will remain a mistery. Unquiet functions in this sense as part of my own ungoing archeology.
